AZMX is a small, opinionated team building the AI coding agent for people and organizations who refuse to ship their code, keys, or commands to anyone's cloud. The product is the architecture. The architecture is the bet.

Make sovereign AI the default — not the upsell.
Every major coding AI tool is built on the assumption that your code passes through their servers, briefly. For solo developers that's fine. For regulated industries, defense, healthcare, and any team that did the math, it's a non-starter. AZMX is the opposite shape: local-first, BYOK or offline, with the trust floor identical on Free and Enterprise.
What we believe
Five convictions the product is built on.
- The vendor should not be on the pathYour code, prompts, and audit log should never traverse our infrastructure. We can't be subpoenaed for what we never had. That's an architectural property, not a privacy policy.
- Trust is a structure, not a sloganPer-call approval, secret-path screen, hash-chained audit log — these are baked in, not bolted on. Same on Free and Enterprise. The wrapper changes; the floor doesn't.
- BYOK is the only honest modelIf we billed you per AI call, we'd have an incentive to drive call volume up. By making you bring the key, we align our incentive with yours — fewer, better-targeted calls.
- Native beats ElectronCold-start under a second. ~10 MB installer. Real PTY terminal, not a wrapped xterm-in-a-tab. The desktop tier deserves a desktop tool.
- Free should be the floor, not the funnelAZMX Free has the full agent. Forever. Not a trial. Not a feature-gimped version. Paid tiers exist for operational control, not as a coercion to upgrade.
The honest answer to "why does AZMX exist?" is that procurement reviews of cloud AI tools kept failing for the same architectural reason. So we built the architecture that makes them pass.
